Why I Decided To Start A Podcast
Let me explain. Podcasts are one of my favorite ways to learn about all the things I love and are currently grabbing my attention. I mean what’s not to love? There are endless hours of information available on almost any topic your mind can imagine. I even found a podcast called “How to start a podcast. ” Perfect, right? One of my friends introduced me to a podcast that helps your kids learn something new for two minutes while they brush their teeth! What a great way to get kids to focus on something they like and stop complaining about that thing they hate doing that we MAKE them do everyday?
Podcasts are available in lots of different lengths of time so it’s easy to find something for your schedule. They are super easy to fit into most lifestyles and you can listen to them while you’re doing something else. Folding laundry? Listen to a podcast. Driving to the grocery store? Listen to a podcast. Going out for a run? Listen to a podcast. Doing the dishes? Listen to a podcast. You get my drift.
Three of my passions are personal development, public speaking and motivating others. A podcast seemed like the most logical place where I could combine all of these AND fit them into my very full life! It’s an outlet for me to share what I know and love most with all of you and hopefully add some value to your day! And honestly guys, I’m not gonna lie – this fills my cup too!
Where I Find The Energy
Taking care of myself physically, mentally, spiritually and emotionally is a huge part of my life. How can I expect my body and mind to show up for me if I don’t show up for them? I’ve realized that when I spend my time doing things I love, it energizes me! I have designed my life and my environment, as much as I possibly can, to make sure that my time is spent doing things that fill my cup so that I can turn around and love others like they deserve to be loved. I’ve also learned how to make myself a priority in my own life. This was a life changer for me! I mean, we only have ONE life guys!
I’ve let go of things that drained me. This includes negative energy, other people’s opinions, perfectionism, people pleasing, expectations and telling myself stories that just were not true. You guys!!!! I could never have imagined what all this would do for me. I have so much more energy now that I’m not carrying all of this other stuff around with me. I’m going to make sure that I spend my one life doing things that bring me joy and spending time with the people that mean the most to me – and that meant realizing that I can’t do everything or have everyone I like in my life. Time and energy are limited resources – so design your life carefully and intentionally!
What My Mindset Looks Like
Challenging myself, facing my fears and trying new things are things I love to do. I have become very comfortable being uncomfortable. This is something you hear me preach about often! I mean, c’mon guys, what do I know about podcasting? Well, I used to know nothing. But hard work and intentionality will get you closer to your goals. Starting a podcast is no small feat, but just like all the other goals in my life, I broke it down into smaller mini goals and made a plan to get there.
It’s inevitable that I will make mistakes along the way. And that’s ok! I am totally prepared to suck at something new in order to get better. Why? Because we all have to start somewhere and I will improve. Have you ever wanted to try something new and held yourself back because you thought you weren’t good enough or you thought other people might judge you? Or maybe you thought that it would be a waste of time if you didn’t like it. GUYS! Finding out something is not right for you is not a waste of time. It’s a learning lesson to find out what you do like, what works and what you’re good at.
If I had cared about making a fool of myself while trying out triathlon for the first time, I never would have went ahead with it and I never would have learned how much I love them! I surrounded myself with a supportive and encouraging community of like minded people with the same goal – to complete their first triathlon – and it was one of the best experiences of my life! I learned that I can do hard things and push myself to get better at something. I remember people judging me because this was what I wanted to spend my time doing, but this brought me so much joy! They can go ahead and continue to sit and watch Netflix and scroll social media in their free time. No judgement here if that’s what brings you joy, but I’m gonna live my life in a way that brings me joy and aligns with my values. You do you and let me be.
If you spend your entire life caring about what other people think then you will never be brave enough to live the life you want. One of true joy and fulfillment! I think it’s safe to say that’s what we all want. I don’t want to get to the end of my life and have regrets for not having taken more chances and had more experiences. And I hope to motivate and inspire other people to really take control of their own lives and live their best lives too, whatever that looks like to them!
I hope that you make some time to listen to my podcast and that you enjoy it. I value your time as much as I value my own and am appreciative of the support I receive from you guys. I can’t do this without you! I’m always open to and encourage you all to provide me some feedback that I can use to improve the podcast and myself to add more value to your life.
I’d like to leave you with this question today – Are you living your best life? If not, what does it look like and what do you need to get there? I’d love to help you on your journey! Send me a message below or check out my coaching page for more info!
